Noa Art | Wooden Framed Ceramic Tile Artwork Titled 'Smiddy Croft'
This captivating artwork features moody hues and depicts an abstract landscape scene with a little lonely cottage and wild flowers, inspired by the Scottish Highlands and the bothies that adorn them.
This piece from Noa Art's tile collection is based on an original canvas painting that has been printed onto ceramic tile and mounted onto a white wooden frame. Each painting is coloured to reflect the diversity of the Scottish landscapes depicted, and is painted with a palette knife to give a strong sense of texture even on smooth and glossy ceramic. The unusual way these artworks are rendered and displayed makes them truly stand out pieces of decor and amazing conversation starters.
Each of the tiles is framed in-house and the back is fitted with a saw tooth hanger and can be hung with a double pin picture hook.
(Tile: 6x6 inches; Frame: 10x10 inches)
Who is Noa Art?
Six years living in New Zealand with their corrugated roofs kindled a deep love and appreciation for the sturdy stone and slate structures of Scotland's but 'n' bens, making them the consistent inspiration and stars of the gorgeous paintings by Noa Art.
Noa is the name of the artist's daughter, and the name means "free from restriction" in Maori, which aligns beautifully with how the artist sums up her textural abstract interpretation of Scotland, as she calls "the land of the free", she writes "Living at the foot of some of Scotland’s most beautiful glens and a short distance from the North Sea, there is no lack of colour and character to be inspired by. I often incorporate into my original paintings the cosy bothies and cottages that adorn these landscapes, to draw the eye. I feel what I paint captures the spirit of Scotland, I hope you enjoy my interpretations."
Her husband is the man behind the rustic hand cut slate mounts, carefully shaping them and coating them, bringing out their unique grain and texture.
